TOMSK, Jan 24 – RIA Tomsk. New international scientific and educational center (SEC) "Institute
of Archeology, Ethnography and Physical Anthropology" began work at Tomsk State University (TSU); one of projects – is a virtual museum of the Siberia
ancient history creation, funds collection of which began 140 years ago, the
press service of the university reported on Thursday.
It is specified that the new scientific and educational center was headed
by the TSU professor Maria Chernaya. The SEC included the Department of
Archeology and Local History, Laboratory for Social and Anthropological Research
of Western Siberia of the Faculty of Historical and Political Studies, Museum
of Archeology and Ethnography of Siberia, and the anthropology office of TSU.
"The scientific and educational center integrates the divisions of the
university of the archeological, ethnographic, anthropological profile into a
single interdisciplinary structure for the consolidation of resources and
efforts to study peoples and cultures, historical processes in Siberia from
ancient times to modern times", – Chernaya is quoted in the message.

According to her, the Institute will serve to strengthen and develop
strategic partnerships with academic science and foreign research centers. One
of the main tasks of the Center in the field of education – is the expansion of
enrollment in postgraduate studies in archeology, including due to attracting
graduates from other scientific centers of Siberia.
According to the press service of TSU, one of the projects of the SEC will
be the creation of a virtual museum of the ancient history of Siberia, which
will allow to familiarize with the unique funds, the collection of which began
more than 140 years ago. The virtual museum will provide an opportunity to see
objects in three dimensions, read their description, find out the history of
the find.
In addition, the scientific and educational center has already concluded an
agreement on the creation of a museum complex in Novokuznetsk, on the territory
of the "Yubileinaya" mine, where will be restored the historical
objects of the region’s population, preserved as archaeological monuments.
