Tomsk. The team of the Tomsk region was the best in
finswimming and sport diving competitions "Snow Fins", winning a
third of all played medals; the competitions were held from January 31 to
February 3 at the water sports center Zvezdniy in Tomsk, the press service of
the regional administration reported on Tuesday.
“The team of the Tomsk
region became the absolute leader of the unofficial medal set-up of the “Snow
Fins”, winning 76 awards (32 gold, 25 silver awards and 24 bronze medals),
which accounts for 30% of all played medals. At the same time, not only
experienced athletes, but also young people filled up the medal moneybox of the
Tomsk region", - is stated in the message.
It is noted that
Novosibirsk athletes won 35 awards of various categories, and representatives
of the Krasnoyarsk Krai though they took the third place in the final table of
the medal standings with 34 awards, but by the amount of gold (16 medals)
confidently ranked the second place.

For prize-winning
places athletes were awarded medals specially made for this tournament in the
form of snowflakes and soft toys - white bear cubs talismans of the
competition. Seven best athletes, including four Tomsk citizens - trainees of
the center of water sports named after V. A. Shevelev (Anna Mishustina,
Aleksandra Skurlatova, Ivan Gorelov and Andrey Metalnikov), were awarded with
memorable prizes.
It is added that the
live broadcast of the competition on the YouTube channel of the water sports
center Zvezdniy was very popular: the total audience was more than 12 thousand
people.
"Snow Fins" -
is the most massive tournament in underwater sports in the region, first held
in Tomsk in 2011. It was held three times as international, twice as regional,
from 2018 it became national. In 2019, the competition gathered a record number
of participants - 424 athletes from 10 regions of the Russian Federation. They
competed in individual disciplines of speed finswimming, four relays and in two
disciplines of sports diving.
