TOMSK, Mar 12 – RIA Tomsk. The Minister of Science and Higher
Education of the Russian Federation Mikhail Kotyukov signed the order to
appoint Eduard Galazhinsky as the rector of Tomsk State University (TSU) for a period
of five years, the representative of the university told RIA Tomsk on Tuesday.
Earlier it was reported that
Galazhinsky’s rector’s term expired in November 2018. In recent months, he was
the acting rector. Earlier, the Supervisory Board of the university recommended
the Ministry of Science and Higher Education reassign Galazhinsky for the next
rectorial term. This decision was supported by the governor Sergey Zhvachkin.
"Galazhinsky is appointed to the
post of the rector of TSU until February 29, 2024 for a period of 5 years. The
order of appointment was signed by the Minister of Science and Higher Education
of the Russian Federation Mikhail Kotyukov", – the interlocutor of the agency
Eduard Galazhinsky was born in 1968
in Tomsk, in 1990 he graduated from the Faculty of History of TSU. Doctor of
Psychology, professor, full member of the Russian Academy of Education. From
November 21, 2013 – he is the rector of TSU. In February 2019, he became the
vice president of the Russian Academy of Education.
Tomsk State University was founded
by decree of Alexander II in 1878 as the Imperial Tomsk University, became the
first university beyond the Urals. In April 2010, TSU received the status of
the National Research University, in July 2013 entered the top 15 universities
of the Russian Federation, which are fighting for entry into the world top 100
within the framework of the "5-100" project. According to the results
of the last defense of the "road maps" in the autumn of 2018, TSU is
in the group of the leading universities.
