TOMSK, Mar 18 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk resident Oleg Antukh will represent Russia at the World Wood Day international festival, which will open on Monday in Austria, his colleague, the master of woodcarving Sergey Bychkov reported.

According to him, masters from almost 90 countries will take part in the international festival in Austria, which starts on March 18 and will last a week.

“World Wood Day - is a non-profit organization, which every year brings together woodcarvers from around the world in different parts of the planet <...>. Our "AB" workshop, consisting of two people (Oleg Antukh and Sergey Bychkov), singled out from its slender ranks the brightest representative in the person of Oleg for this trip. Participants must bring a small panel with them and do one work on the spot", - Bychkov said.

He specified that the theme of this year’s festival is- “Change”; participants must present a work showing how the role of wood has changed in contemporary culture.

As a "home" work Antukh will present at the festival the work "Fingerprint", similar to the annual rings of the tree. At the competition itself, the master will make a sculpture of a sad wooden man sitting on a suitcase. "It will symbolize the departure of the tree from the daily life of modern man", - adds Bychkov.

He also said that the masters of "AB" engaged in wood carving for more than 20 years. Took part in the international exhibition-competition of contemporary art "Russian Art Week". Presented work at the "Ax Day" and at the festival of ice sculpture. Solo exhibitions of masters were held in Tomsk, Novosibirsk and Prokopyevsk.
