Almost 3 thousand schoolchildren of 8-10 grades from the Russian Federation and the CIS countries took part in the olympiad of Tomsk State University (TSU); the winners will receive additional points for admission to the Russian university, the coordinator of the olympiad for schoolchildren at TSU Mikhail Baraksanov told RIA Tomsk on Friday.
According to him, the open regional TSU Olympiad for
schoolchildren of 8-10 grades was held in two stages (correspondence and
intramural) in seven subjects: mathematics, physics, Russian, literature,
history, geography and publishing. The winners of the Olympiad will receive up
to 10 points in the portfolio when they enroll in the Russian university.
"About 3 thousand schoolchildren took part in the
open interuniversity olympiad organized by TSU in cooperation with Tomsk
Polytechnic University and Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radio
Electronics. The most popular subjects for schoolchildren – are traditionally
Russian and mathematics", – the interlocutor of the agency reported.
He added that the participants of the Olympiad in 2019
became residents of Siberian cities, Chelyabinsk, Yekaterinburg, as well as
Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. The winners of the olympiad will be
about 500 people, but they will be determined after the appeal procedure, on
Monday, April 8.
Baraksanov added that on May 2-4 in Tomsk there will
be held a forum "Talents of Siberia" for pupils of 9-11 grades who
have achievements in olympiads. It includes career guidance and educational
activities, classes on the development of personal effectiveness.
