TOMSK, Apr 18 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University (TSU) took the 177th place in the international Round University Ranking (RUR) in 2019, having risen in one year to 62 positions; among universities of Russia TSU is in the third place, and in terms of quality of education, it is second only to Moscow State University (MSU), the press service of the university reported.
Earlier it was reported that the rating of RUR – is the only Russian ranking of universities of the world, published since 2010. It takes into account the quality of teaching and research, level of internationalization and financial sustainability of universities. In 2018, TSU held the 240th place and was on the third place among Russian universities, after Moscow State University and National Research Nuclear University MEPhI.
According to the press service of TSU, in 2019 for the first time in the history of the ranking, all Russian universities from the top 10 showed a positive trend. In particular, TSU showed an increase of 62 positions in the global ranking.
"Tomsk State University entered the gold league of the strongest universities, taking the 177th place in the world. Among the Russian universities, TSU ranks third in the overall rating, and in terms of "teaching quality, Teaching Ranking" – is the second after only Moscow State University. Thus, TSU is one of the hundred strongest universities of the world in terms of the quality of education", – is said in the statement.

The press service adds that experts highly appreciated the achievements of TSU in the field of individualization of education of each student, formation of personal trajectories of development and promotion of adaptive technologies.
"The high quality of education at Tomsk State University is ensured by a strong teaching staff and the systematic introduction of new technologies: these are online courses, the use of VR / AR, and the reengineering of the educational process through the introduction of the undergraduate core, and the rebuilding of programs under modern requirements", – the rector of TSU Eduard Galazhinsky is quoted in the message.
According to TSU, in the rating of the RUR agency over 10 years 1100 leading universities from 86 countries of the world are ranked. The position of the university is influenced by 20 parameters, grouped by the following areas of measurement: the quality of teaching (40% of the university's assessment), quality of research (40%), level of internationalization (10%), level of financial sustainability (10%).
