graduate, physicist Evgeny Kolubaev, Doctor of Engineering Science, became the
new director of the Institute of Strength Physics and Materials Science of the
Tomsk Scientific Center of the SB RAS; the decision was taken by the general
meeting of the team, the press service of the regional administration reported
on Monday.
Earlier it
was reported that on December 22, 2018, at the 66th year of life, the director
of the Institute of Strength Physics and Materials Science of the Siberian
Branch of Russian Academy of Sciences, Corresponding Member of the Russian
Academy of Sciences Sergey Psakhie, died suddenly. He headed the institute
since 2002. Peter Kaminsky became Acting Director until the end of the official
procedure for electing a new head of the Institute in January 2019.
"The
general meeting of the team of the Institute of Strength Physics and Materials
Science of the Tomsk Scientific Center of the Siberian Branch of Russian
Academy of Sciences elected Evgeny Kolubaev as the director", - is said in
the statement.
According
to the press service, Kolubaev was born in Tomsk in 1979. In 2002, he graduated
with honors from the Faculty of Physics of TSU, in 2005 he became a candidate
of physical and mathematical sciences, and in 2016, he received a PhD in
technical sciences. A physicist, specialist in materials science and metal
processing technologies, has been working at the ISPMS SB RAS since 2001, and
since May 2018, he is the deputy director for scientific work.
ISPMS was
established in 1984 and is one of the leading scientific institutions of the
Russian Federation in the field of materials science, development and creation
of new materials, including nanomaterials and products from them. Thus,
nano-sized powders and fibers produced by the Institute of Strength Physics and
Materials Science are used as sorbents for removing a wide range of
contaminants from water, as well as for the manufacture of ceramics and
nanocomposite polymeric materials with enhanced wear resistance.
