TOMSK, May 27 – RIA Tomsk. The head of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation appointed Andrey Makarenko the rector of Tomsk State Pedagogical University (TSPU); the governor of the Tomsk region asked the ex-rector Valery Obukhov to provide successor with the necessary assistance, the press service of the regional administration reported on Monday.
Earlier it was reported that the term of office of the rector of the TSPU Valery Obukhov expires on July 1, 2019, he did not nominate himself for another term. The main contender for this post was elected by secret ballot the first vice rector of the university physicist Makarenko.
According to the press service, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Mikhail Kotyukov signed an order on the appointment of the rector.
"The governor Sergei Zhvachkin congratulated Andrey Makarenko on the appointment to the new position of the rector of Tomsk State Pedagogical University", - is said in the statement.
It is noted that Zhvachkin also thanked the former leader Valery Obukhov who had headed the university since 2000, for his great contribution to the development of the TSPU. The governor asked him to provide the necessary assistance to the successor.
Andrey Makarenko was born in 1976 in Tomsk. In 1999 he graduated with honors Tomsk State University with a degree in "Physics" direction. Since 2001 he has been working at TSPU, where he has consistently held teaching and management positions. Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, has the distinction "Honored Worker of Science and Technology of the Russian Federation".
