TOMSK, Jun 13 - RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University (TSU) opened a new module "Physics and technologies of new materials" in the magistracy of the Faculty of Physics (FF); students will be introduced to the development and production of modern materials which are most demanded in various fields, the press service of the university reported on Thursday.
It is specified that the classical training of physicists focuses on the development of fundamental knowledge. The finalized master's degree program of the Faculty of Physics corresponds to the current changes in the education system, and is aimed at meeting the need for specialists who are able to integrate knowledge from various fields of science and technology.
“A new interdepartmental module - "Physics and technologies of new materials" is opened in the FF master's degree program. The module program assumes a multidisciplinary approach in materials science and will suit everyone who has the necessary level of basic knowledge in physics, for example, engineers, chemists, biologists", - is said in the statement.

It is emphasized that the program is designed for students of a wide range of specializations.
"For example, a person received basic engineering training, having mastered the relevant skills, but does not know how modern constructional and functional materials are developed and produced. We can teach him this by introducing certain methods and approaches", - the head of the Metal Physics department of the FF Ivan Ditenberg is quoted in the message.
Upon completion of the program, undergraduates will receive a sufficient set of knowledge for further development in selected professional areas and will be able to apply them in a variety of conditions - from specialized research laboratories to the scale of interdisciplinary industrial production.
