TOMSK, Jun 18 – RIA Tomsk. The company producing
single-walled nanotubes OCSiAl, co-owned by businessman Yuri Zelvensky, became
the first "unicorn" company (a company that started as a startup
whose value exceeds 1 billion dollars) in the RUSNANO portfolio, Forbes reported
on Tuesday.
According to the analytical system "SPARK-Interfax", OCSiAl was
registered in Novosibirsk in 2012. Its main profile – is the industrial
production of single-walled carbon nanotubes under the Tuball brand. The
company is owned by Cyprus OCSiAI SA and FARSONECH INVESTMENTS LIMITED.
Revenues of OCSiAl in 2017 amounted to 501.5 million rubles, net loss – 113
million.
According to Forbes, 47% of the shares of the head structures of OCSiAl are
owned by the company's founders Yuri Zelvensky, Oleg Kirillov and Mikhail
Predtechensky, RUSNANO controls 17.3%, the remaining shares are divided between
the A&NN investment group and the unnamed British investor.
"The investment group of the billionaire Alexander Mamut A&NN
helped RUSNANO to create a startup-"unicorn". In 2019, A&NN
acquired 0.5% of OCSiAl from RUSNANO for $ 5 million. Thus, the entire business
was valued at exactly 1 billion dollars. This information was confirmed by both
sides of the transaction", – Forbes reports.
According to the newspaper, the OCSiAl company become the first
"unicorn" in the RUSNANO portfolio. At the end of 2018, its share
accounted for 86% of world production and 95% of world sales of single-walled
carbon tubes. The company synthesized 11.7 tons of Tuball nanotubes. It also
conducted a test launch of a new Graphetron 50 synthesis plant, designed for
the production of 50 tons of nanotubes per year.
"According to the company itself, in 2018 OCSiAl revenue doubled and
exceeded 10 million million dollars... In the years 2021-2022, the company
plans to open the first stage of a new site in Luxembourg. Its capacity will be
250 tons of Tuball nanotubes per year", – reports Forbes .
According to open sources, Yuri Zelvensky lived in Tomsk from the moment he
entered Tomsk State University, in the 90s he run a business here. According to
"SPARK-Interfax", Zelvensky at various times was a co-owner of 25
companies registered in the Tomsk region. He currently controls five Tomsk
companies: LLC MT, Sibirneft, Siberian Scientific Agency, Topinvest and Trenka.
