TOMSK, Jun 20 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University (TSU)
opened the Knowledge center on targeted capital; the project was implemented at
the expense of a grant of the Vladimir Potanin Foundation, the press service of
the Foundation reported on Thursday.
It is specified that the grant competition was
established in 2017. More than 250 organizations showed interest in it, of
which in 2018 five winners were selected who received grants of up to 5 million
rubles.
"The Knowledge center on the basis of TSU - is
one of five winners of the grant competition. <...> Knowledge centers -
are innovative platforms for training, consulting and professional
communication in the field of targeted capital. They are implemented on the
basis of institutions that have practical experience in endowments creating and
are willing to share their expertise with a wide audience", – is said in
the statement.
It is noted that the main task of the knowledge
centers – is to raise public awareness about targeted capitals, strengthen ties
within the professional community on the topic of endowment development, and
also increase the competence of employees of non-profit organizations directly
working with this financial instrument or considering the idea of its creation.

"TSU has a long history of philanthropy. I’m
looking at our Knowledge center on targeted capital not as a way to transfer
knowledge, but as an opportunity for many organizations to get it. How to
develop traditions of philanthropy? I hope we can all find answers to these
questions", – the president of the university Georgiy V. Mayer is quoted
in the message.
According to the TSU website, the TSU endowment fund
employees will conduct consultations and training events for other
organizations in the Knowledge center on targeted capital, share their
successful experience. This will help create new endowments, develop existing
funds and promote the target capital model in Russia.
Earlier it was reported that the TSU endowment fund
was established in 2010. It accumulates cash donations and sends them to
finance projects. The fund financed the publication of a dictionary of synonyms
of the Siberian dialect, supported the project of restoration of the
recreational zone of the Siberian Botanical Garden, pays scholarships to
talented students. Currently, the volume of targeted capital of TSU is 39
million rubles.
