TOMSK, Jun 26 - RIA Tomsk. Authorities consider several options for pedestrian bridge across Tom to ensure accessibility of future student campus on the left bank: it is possible that the bridge will be closed, it may be a cable car, but it should correspond to climatic conditions, the press service of the regional administration reported on Wednesday in Facebook.
Earlier it was reported that the regional authorities are planning to build on the left bank of Tom a student campus on 20 thousand people within the framework of the "Education" national project. It will be connected to the city center and to the existing buildings of higher education institutions by a pedestrian bridge. The governor announced the international competition to develop the architectural concept of the campus.
The press service of the regional administration in its account in Facebook social network on Wednesday, June 26, opened the discussion of the project of the inter-university campus. One of the topics stated is the construction of a bridge over the Tom river, which will ensure the availability of the future campus. According to the press service, the project will take into account the climatic conditions of Tomsk.
"Most likely, the bridge will be closed - as for example, the Bagration Bridge in Moscow. The place for its construction will be chosen in such a way that the path is as short as possible: one of the options - is to pave the passage to the coast from Kirov Avenue. Another possible solution - is the cableway from Lagerny garden with closed booths with a capacity of 1000 people per hour", - is said in the statement.
It is noted that international-level professionals will determine the type of coverage on the bridge, select the paths for bicycles, scooters, and possibly electric cars. “In any case, this will not be a “purely pedestrian history” - it’s not possible to do without public transport”, - adds the press service.

As it was previously reported, the departments of architecture and construction and health of the Tomsk region, the Union of Architects of Russia, as well as the scientific community will prepare the terms of reference for the construction of a future campus on the left bank of the Tom.
According to the regional administration, the pedestrian bridge "Bagration" was built in 1997. It connects Krasnopresnenskaya embankment and Taras Shevchenko embankment, going to the "Tower 2000" in Moskva-City. The bridge has two levels: the lower one - is a fully glazed gallery with travolators, the upper one - is a partially glazed space with shopping malls and a viewing platform.
