TOMSK, Aug 8 – RIA Tomsk. Wood masters from 24 countries of the world and 22 regions of Russia will create more than 80 works at the "Ax Day" which will take place in the rural park "Okolitsa" near Tomsk, the press service of the region administration reported on Thursday.

Earlier it was reported that the XII international festival of national crafts "Ax Day" will take place from August 20 to August 25 in the rural park "Okolitsa" near Tomsk (village Zorkaltsevo). In 2019 applications for the competition of carvers and carpenters arrived from 200 masters from 38 countries of the world.
It is specified that 140 masters from 24 countries of the world and 22 regions of Russia will participate in the festival. They will compete in four nominations: "Park sculpture", "Architectural object. Individuals", "Architectural object. Crews" and "Woodcarvers". In total 80 works will be created at the "Ax Day".
"Sketches of future works were presented by master at a stage of competitive selection. So, the international team which includes masters from Guatemala, Estonia, Moscow and Asinovsky district of the Tomsk region will construct a huge gazebo in the form of the head of a hippopotamus. In last years the same team decorated the rural park "Okolitsa" with a gazebo in the form of an owl", – it is said in the statement.
Guests of the festival will also be able to see how sculptural compositions "Munchausen on a kernel", "Spirit of water", "Barefoot childhood", "World tree" are born from a tree, the press service adds.
Also, according to the region administration, competitions of smiths, ceramists and masters in birch bark will take place within the festival.
