TOMSK, Aug 9 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University (TSU) sent a record group to language school of the Shenyang Ligong University, which includes Siberians and Muscovites, the press service of the university reported on Friday. Why residents of Russia choose Chinese for studying more often – in the review of RIA Tomsk.
Earlier it was reported that residents of Tomsk can learn Chinese at TSU's Confucius Institute. The Chinese language is considered one of the most ancient languages – it is more than four thousand years. A large number of dialects, which are divided into almost a dozen groups, distinguishes it.
For lessons to Celestial Empire
Despite complexity of Chinese literacy, more and more people of different age come to the TSU's Confucius Institute to learn language and the culture of Celestial Empire, the press service of the university reports. Besides training within a year residents of Tomsk can choose summer school which is carried out by the partner of TSU — the Shenyang Ligong University.
This summer TSU sent 39 people to the school - this is residents of Tomsk, Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk and Moscow.

"They started contacting us from other cities. These are people who do not study Chinese at a university, as, for example, students of some TSU faculties do, but only of their own free will, with university teachers or private tutors," – the teacher of the Confucius Institute Evgeny Petukhov is quoted in the message.
Also Tomsk "school students" got acquainted with cultural heritage of the country during the excursions in Shenyang and Beijing, saw the Chinese wall, the Forbidden city, national park Beiling where there is a tomb of the emperor of the Qing dynasty, and other historical places.

"Certainly, progress in knowledge is very essential in such conditions. The most important, that there is an opportunity to remove a language barrier, to get rid of fear to make a mistake as Chinese are very kind, they try to understand speaking and to encourage it", – Petukhova tells.
Looking to the future
The growing number of people wishing to learn Chinese is connected with great interest to the People's Republic of China which is the country with the most dynamically developing economy, consider at the TSU's Confucius Institute. Millions of people with knowledge of Chinese language live in Korea, Japan, Taiwan that gives the chance to find a set of business contacts in these countries.
"Sometimes the choice of a child is influenced by parents who are sure that Chinese will increase chances of their child of successful employment and career considerably. According to teachers of the Institute, the new trend appeared: residents of Tomsk come to the Institute and are interested how "to China immediately" after school. But nevertheless more often children begin to learn language just because it seems interesting to them", – Petukhova adds.
She notes that the Chinese language can be chosen for a Unified State Examination in certain regions from this year. This subject is already taught at several schools in Tomsk, and the number of interested persons only grows.
"As practice shows, the Chinese language is easier for children than for adults therefore if there is interest and due persistence graduating school they will be able to own it at the level of the native speaker", – the expert summarizes.
