It is noted that rapid progress in genetics has led to numerous legal and
ethical consequences. Genetic research results are used in a range of fields,
from medicine to crime prevention, educational trajectory selection and career
building. At the same time, there are significant risks of abuse in this area.
"In order to protect the interests of human and science, it is
necessary to update the relevant laws. To date, little progress has been made
in regulating the use of genetic information. However … the development of
effective protection mechanisms requires international efforts of specialists
from different fields", – the message emphasizes.
The goal of the conference "Justice in the Genomic and Digital
Age" is to bring together specialists in genetics, jurisprudence and other
fields to raise awareness about legal and ethical problems, as well as to
promote progress in updating legal protection, the press service of TSU
reports. The program, registration form and more information are available on
the conference page.
