TOMSK, Sep 4 - RIA Tomsk. Radiophysicists of Tomsk State University (TSU) together with an industrial partner - "Ekipazh" ("Crew") company to bring to market a line of gallium arsenide based detectors; scientists are finalizing them to industrial models, industrial partner is engaged in raising funds and finding buyers, the press service of the university said on Wednesday.
It was previously reported that since 2016 TSU has been supplying radiation-resistant gallium arsenide detectors to the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). In particular, these detectors were used in the "upgrade" of the LHC, as well as in the construction of the ILC linear collider. Gallium arsenide detectors are also used at the DESY German Synchrotron Center.
“Radiophysicists of TSU together with JSC "Ekipazh" ("Crew") plan to launch their own detectors based on gallium arsenide on the Russian market within two years. Now scientists are finalizing detectors to industrial designs, and the partner is responsible for raising funds, finding buyers and transforming a university small innovative enterprise (SIP) into a full-fledged business structure", - is said in the report.
It is noted that the JSC "Ekipazh" ("Crew") is mainly engaged in the production and sale of equipment, materials and technologies for hospitals. Together with TSU, the company will bring detectors on the Russian market that can be used in X-ray and diagnostic equipment. The "Ekipazh" ("Crew") has already entered the university small innovative enterprise (SIP) "XDiCon" and "Gallium arsenide sensors".

“New knowledge needs to be converted into high technology, and this process should be as quick as possible. To create a commercial product - is a great value for a modern university. When we enter the market, we understand that we cannot master all competencies, therefore we need to cooperate with business. We go this way", - the press service quotes the project’s supervisor Oleg Tolbanov.
Currently scientists are engaged in carrying out experimental development, the result of which will be the release of the installation batch of detectors. The construction of the plant for their serial production and fundraising for this project will be carried out by the "Ekipazh" ("Crew"). A member of the board of directors of this company, in the past the investment director of Rusnano Vadim Veshchezerov became the director of the small innovative enterprise "XDiCon".
