of the EU countries, which is scheduled to be held in Tomsk at the end of
November 2019, the Head of Press and Information Section of the Delegation of
the European Union to Russia Luca Eszter Kadar told RIA Tomsk.
Earlier it was reported that the EU Film Festival was
held in Tomsk in 2017 and 2018. Tomsk citizens saw movies in different genres,
but united by the ideas of pluralism and diversity. In 2018, spectator interest
exceeded the expectations of the organizers, and the 12-day cinema marathon was
extended by two days for reruns. The authorities of the Tomsk region considered
the possibility of holding a festival annually.
"The EU Film Festival will be held in Tomsk at
the end of November 2019", – the agency’s interlocutor said, having
difficulty finding out how many films and which directors are planned to be
shown at the third festival. It is also not yet known which of the filmmakers
will come to Tomsk personally.
It was also reported that in 2018, Tomsk citizens not
only saw 15 films from 15 countries, including Oscar nominees, participants in
international film festivals in Berlin, Venice, Cannes, San Sebastian, winners
of prestigious international awards, but also talked to authors of films. In
addition, the heads of 18 EU diplomatic missions arrived at the opening of the
EU Film Festival in Tomsk.
