region for further breeding, the press service of the regional administration
said on Wednesday. Animals are characterized by high milk yields, their fat
milk will be used for the production of long-ripening cheeses, representative
of the farm told RIA Tomsk.
"Fifty-six heads of Jersey breed cows
arrived from Denmark in Asinovsky district last week. The first representatives
of the new cattle breed in our region – 30 stirks and 26 heifers, which will
calve in December of this year, will arrive in peasant farm "Mezina S.V.
(the village of Yagodnoye, the Asinovsky district)", – is said in the regional
administration release.
It is added that the farm, designed for
100 heads of cows, is located in the village of Yagodnoye in the Asinovsky
district. In 2019, the peasant farm received a grant in the amount of 30
million rubles as part of the "Family Livestock Farm" contest. In

As a representative of the peasant farm
specified RIA Tomsk, the "Danes" perfectly experienced the nine-day
move to Siberia.
"These are good, unpretentious in
maintenance, miniature cows that look like a doe: only 1.2 meters tall and
weighs about 400 kilograms. They are highly productive - they produce from 30
to 40 liters of milk per day, which has a high content of proteins and fats
(more than 6 %) and calcium. This fat content is excellent for making
long-ripening cheeses", – the interlocutor of the agency said.
She noted that the farm plans to receive
the first milk yields in late December – early January 2020, after the first
calving: "This is a rather expensive breed ... We do not plan to buy more
cows. We will work with these 56 cows. We expect that 50% of their first
calving will be "girls", which will allow us to further develop the
herd".
