TOMSK, Nov 5 – RIA Tomsk. Governor Sergei Zhvachkin presented the new interim Rector of the Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) on Tuesday; it is Victor Dyomin, the correspondent
RIA Tomsk reports from the meeting of the Scientific Council of the university.
Earlier it was
reported that the Rector powers of Petr Chubik expired at the end of 2018, he
did not stand for a new term. About 20 people, including foreigners, applied
for the post of the Rector. However, the Ministry did not approve the main
candidate. Chubik then became interim Rector until July 9, 2020, but he left
office on October 11. Since then, the university has nominally worked without a
head.
According to the
correspondent RIA Tomsk, Zhvachkin presented interim Rector – Dyomin to the
team of TPU on Tuesday, November 5. The ceremony took place at the meeting of
the Scientific Council of the university.
"To assign
appointment ad interim of the Rector of the National Research Tomsk Polytechnic
University to Dyomin Victor Valentinovich from November 6, 2019 until the
replacement of the post of the Rector in the established procedure for a period
of not more than one year," – representative of the Ministry of Education
and Science Alexey Kolovich read the order (a copy is available at the editors
office).
As Zhvachkin
reported at the Scientific Council, Dyomin's appointment means "the
university will have a new team". "I can promise support on the part
of the Supervisory Board", – the Governor added.
"I want to
fulfill another request of the Minister and introduce the first Vice-Rector who
will work from tomorrow. This is Yakovlev Andrei Alexandrovich born in 1981,
higher education - Ufa State Aviation Technical University, specialty Applied
Mathematics and Informatics... Doctor of Physical and Mathematical
Sciences", – Zhvachkin said.
"I understand
how seriously Tomsk is represented by the two universities, and what a great
responsibility falls on me... Two key tasks (for TPU) are participation in SEC
and project "5-100"... We have ambitions to move on", – Dyomin
said at the presentation.
Dyomin graduated
from the Radiophysical Faculty of the University in 1980 with a degree in
Optical and Optical-Electronic Systems, got a research degree in Optics. He was
dean of the radiophysical faculty of the university from 2001 to 2013. He was
appointed Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of TSU in 2014.
