"Big University" was prepared for two years, there will be no uniting
its participants into one legal entity, the governor of the Tomsk region Sergey
Zhvachkin said on the air of the "Tomsk" State Television and Radio
Broadcasting Company on Wednesday.
Earlier it was reported that the "Big
University" project involves the unification of all universities and
research institutes of Tomsk into a single scientific and educational
consortium with the preservation of the legal autonomy of all participants. The
main objective of the project – is to obtain a synergistic effect from the
addition of scientific, educational and infrastructural opportunities for full
competition with world university centers.
"It’s very good that everyone says that this is
the main news of this year’s science. Actually, we 've been working on it for
two years. We did not submit the discussion to the public, and we did it right.
Because we have revised many issues today ... Big tasks can be solved only by a
large community of people", – Zhvachkin said.
The head of the region added that the Deputy Prime
Minister Tatyana Golikova confirmed at a meeting with him that there will be no
integration of universities and research institutes into one legal entity.
