TOMSK, Jan 22 – RIA Tomsk. Rector of Tomsk State University (TSU) Eduard
Galazhinsky appreciates the appointment of Valery Falkov as new Minister
of Science and Higher Education of Russia, who, in his opinion, clearly
understands the national, regional and international contexts of
universities development and showed this as rector of University of
Tyumen (UTMN), TSU press service said on Wednesday.
It was previously reported that on January 15, the government of
Dmitry Medvedev resigned. According to federal media, on January 21,
Russian President Vladimir Putin approved a new structure and
composition of the government. The ex-rector of University of Tyumen
Valery Falkov was appointed Minister of Science and Higher Education.
According to the press service, Galazhinsky supports the appointment
of the ex-rector of University of Tyumen as the new head of the Russian
Ministry of Education and Science.
"Valery Nikolayevich (Falkov) confirmed his ability to quickly and
efficiently solve the complex tasks of developing a scientific and
educational complex. Our experience of cooperation within the framework
of the "5-100" project shows how Valery Nikolayevich in a short time
brought the university to the logic of transformation in completely
different international contexts related to global competitiveness", –
Galazhinsky is quoted.
According to the rector of TSU, Falkov has a clear understanding of
national, regional and international contexts. Also, the new minister,
according to Galazhinsky, knows how to assemble a team of effective
managers, set them tasks and focus on results.
"(Falkov) has a desire to deeply understand the essence of complex
processes, which education and science are, because they are very
multi-layered, multi-context, associated with various goals", – the
rector of TSU said.
Falkov was born on October 18, 1978 in Tyumen. In 2000 he graduated
the Institute of State and Law of University of Tyumen with a degree in
Jurisprudence, in 2003 he completed his postgraduate studies at the same
university, in 2007 he was awarded the title of Associate Professor. In
October 2012, he became rector of University of Tyumen. Since December
2018, he has been a member of the Presidential Council for Science and
Education.
