TOMSK, Jan 29 – RIA Tomsk. The regional department of Rospotrebnadzor instructed Tomsk doctors to monitor the condition of university students returning from China who could have taken coronavirus; monitoring is supposed to be deployed on the basis of an inter-university clinic or in dormitories, the assistant head of the department Andrey Sukovatitsyn told reporters.
The first outbreak of viral pneumonia caused by a new type of coronavirus was recorded in the Chinese city of Wuhan in late December 2019. According to Izvestia with reference to Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Well-Being (Rospotrebnadzor), as on January 29, 5999 cases were registered in China, 132 people died. Also, cases have been recorded in Australia, South Korea, Nepal, Malaysia, Japan, the United States, France, Canada and the UAE.
According to Sukovatitsyn, in connection with the outbreak of coronavirus in China, a decree of the chief state sanitary doctor was issued in the Russian Federation, according to which a plan of anti-epidemic measures should be developed in each region. In the Tomsk region such a document has already been prepared. In it, in addition to general recommendations, such as the willingness of hospitals to receive patients, there are specific ones.
“Where it can come from (coronavirus to the Tomsk region) - are our labor migrants, students. They are now being watched. Now we are working closely with universities: if there are students who were leaving (to China) for their New Year, it will be established medical observation for them", - Sukovatitsyn said.
He noted that the staff of the regional health system will conduct the observation: “How they will organize: whether they will go to dormitories, do it in the inter-university clinic or in those where students are attached, I don’t know. They organize the observation and based on this basis give information to us”, - the specialist added.
