TOMSK, Feb 14 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University (TSU) has become the most international university in Russia in the ranking of Times Higher Education (THE), overtaking Moscow State University (MSU); TSU is the 103rd in the overall world ranking in this indicator, is reported on THE website.
It was previously reported that in compiling a ranking of internationality, the number and share of foreign students and staff, the number of scientific publications co-written with foreign scientists, the international reputation of the university, and the quality of international educational programs according to student reviews are estimated.
It was also reported that in 2018 TSU took the 146th place in the international THE ranking of the internationality, and among the Russian universities it became the second after Moscow State University. According to the project website, in 2019 TSU was not ranked by this indicator.
"Tomsk State University became the leader in the Russian Federation in the ranking of THE accreditation agency in terms of internationalization. In total, a pool of 170 universities of the world was selected by this agency. TSU took the 103rd position there", - the deputy governor for scientific and educational complex Lyudmila Ogorodova told reporters.

According to THE website, Russian universities other than TSU are represented in the ranking by MSU (the 104th place), Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (the 119th), Novosibirsk State University (the 143rd), Higher School of Economics (the 150th) and St. Petersburg State University (the 155th place). World leaders are City University of Hong Kong (the 1st place), University of Hong Kong (the 2nd place) and Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne (the 3rd place).
The British magazine Times Higher Education annually publishes one of the three most prestigious world university rankings (along with the QS World University Rankings and Academic Ranking of World Universities), as well as a number of subject rankings.
Earlier it was also reported that in the ranking of THE of the world's leading universities, published in the fall of 2019, TSU is in the 501-600 group among world universities and on the fifth place among Russian universities. TSU is also included in THE subject ratings in the areas of "Arts & humanities", "Physical Sciences", "Life Sciences" and "Clinical, pre-clinical & health" and "Engineering & technology".
