TOMSK, Feb 26 –
RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State (TSU) and Tomsk Polytechnic (TPU)
universities in 2020 will receive 875 million and 437 million rubles of state
support respectively under the program for increasing international
competitiveness, follows from the order of the Russian government published on
the official portal of legal information on Wednesday.
It was
previously reported that TSU and TPU have been participating in the
"5-100" global competitiveness program since 2013, aimed at ensuring
that by 2020 at least five Russian universities entered the best 100
universities of the world. Within the framework of the project, 21 universities
annually receive additional funding from the state budget. In 2019, TSU
received 861 million, and TPU – 430.5 million rubles.
As follows from
the decree of the Government of the Russian Federation, in 2020, 10.07 billion
rubles will be distributed between 21 Russian universities participating in the
"5-100" project under the project "Young Professionals
(Improving the Competitiveness of Professional Education)" of the "Education"
national project.

for state support of leading universities of the Russian Federation in order to
increase competitiveness among the world's leading scientific and educational
centers ... Tomsk State University (will receive) 875783.9 (thousand rubles)
... Tomsk Polytechnic University – 437891.9 (thousand rubles)", – follows
from the order of the government.
It is specified
that the group with the maximum funding of 875.78 million rubles each also
includes Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Novosibirsk State
University, National University of Science and Technology MISiS, National
Research University Higher School of Economics, National Research Nuclear
University MEPhI and ITMO University.

University in 2020 will receive 125.11 million rubles each.
Earlier it was
reported that according to the results of the last defense of the "road
maps" in the fall of 2019, TSU is in the group of universities-leaders of
the "5-100" project, TPU – is in the second group. In 2019, the
government announced that the "5-100" program, calculated until 2020,
would be extended for subsequent years, but within the framework of national
projects.
It was also
reported that in the QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) ranking of 2019, TSU takes the
268th place, TPU – the 387th place. Among the universities of the Russian
Federation, TSU is the fourth, TPU is the eleventh. In the ranking of the
British edition of Times Higher Education (THE) in 2019, TSU entered the group
501-600, TPU – the group 601-800.
