TOMSK, Mar 16 –
RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State Pedagogical
University (TSPU) on Monday transferred students to distance education in
connection with the unfavorable situation of a new coronavirus infection. The
remaining universities of Tomsk are planning to switch to online education in
the coming days. More details – in the

It was
previously reported that an outbreak of pneumonia caused by a new type of
coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 was recorded in Wuhan, China at the end of 2019. The
disease is called COVID-19. According to Izvestia, as of the morning of March
16, about 170 thousand people were infected in the world, almost 78 thousand
were cured, and more than 6.5 thousand died. In Russia, the diagnosis was
confirmed in 63 patients, including two in Kemerovo.
It was also
reported that the Ministry of Science and Higher Education recommended
universities to organize student learning using digital technology in
connection with the unfavorable situation of the new coronavirus infection.
Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) on Monday began testing systems to transfer
students to online education as early as March 17.
"(Classes)
are not canceled, but are transferred to a distance form", – a
representative of Tomsk State Pedagogical University told RIA Tomsk.

The press
service of
Tomsk State University said on Monday that the university’s
resources are sufficient to switch to distance learning of students, if
necessary, without losing the quality of education. At the same time, the
timing of the transfer of students to online education is not specified.
An employee of
the press service of Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics(TUSUR) told the agency that the transfer of students to study
using distance learning technologies will be carried out in the coming days.
"TUSUR has a database of electronic courses .., the educational process
using distance learning technologies for laboratory work and practical
exercises using virtual layouts has been worked out", – the vice-rector
for academic affairs Pavel Senchenko is quoted.
According to the
press service of Tomsk State University of Architecture and Building (TSUAB), a
document is currently being prepared at the university on the university’s work
in the context of preventing the spread of a new coronavirus infection in the
Russian Federation. Detailed information on the measures taken will be
published on the official website of the university after 16.00.

Tomsk, an employee of the press service of the Siberian State Medical
University, a conference call of the heads of medical universities with the
Ministry of Health was scheduled for 14.00 Tomsk, at which a decision could be
made on the transition to distance learning.
