TOMSK, Mar 26 –
RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University (TSU),
Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) and Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TUSUR) signed an agreement on training students
within the framework of the additional professional education program (AEP)
"Chemical Technology in Polymer Production", the press service of TSU
reported on Thursday.
It was
previously reported that the "Big University" project was planned to
be launched in Tomsk by 2020. It will involve all universities and research
institutes of Tomsk with the preservation of the legal autonomy of all
participants. The appearance of "Big University" is necessary to win
the competition for the creation of a world-class research and educational
center (REC)
"Tomsk
State University, TPU and TUSUR signed a trilateral agreement on the
implementation of the AEP program "Chemical Technology in Polymer
Production" in a network form formed in the format of a cross-disciplinary
module. Such an open format of educational programs can become the basis for
the development of the individual learning path within the framework of the Big
University", – is said in the message.
The initiator of
the program was the corporate university of TSU partner – SIBUR company.
Selection of
students
To get into this
program, students went through several stages of selection. Experts evaluated
not only their competencies, but also their potential for development and
motivation for employment in SIBUR. Applicants solved cases, performed
individual tasks, passed an interview with company employees. Experts selected
eight students from TSU and TPU who study in chemical direction prorams.
"Employers
are interested in training specialists with deep competencies in the field of
chemical technology for the production of polymer materials, so the company is
fully funding the new program ... We have put in the module the entire amount
of knowledge and skills that graduates will need", – the director of the
strategic academic unit (SAU) Institute of "Smart Materials and
Technology" Irina Kurzina is quoted in the message.

How is the
training going
On Tuesday,
March 24, the program module was launched on the basis of the TSU Faculty of
Chemistry, organized with the support of the SAU Institute of "Smart
Materials and Technology". Students study such disciplines as "Gas
chromatographic analysis of raw materials and products", "Spectral
(IR, UV) analysis methods", "Physical and mechanical methods of
product control", "Quality control of analysis results".
The joint
project combined the strengths of the scientific and educational schools of
leading Tomsk universities. The module lasts more than 500 academic hours. Now
the program is taking place in a remote format, which is attractive for SIBUR,
since in the future it is planned to connect students from other universities
of the country who want to get a job in the company.

"At the
same time, students will be enrolled in one of the professional training
programs in the working profession “Laboratory Assistant for Chemical Analysis”
with the issuance of a certificate of qualification. This is also one of the
features of targeted training of students for SIBUR companies, since the
company believes that all candidates should begin work from production (working
profession or internship)", – Kurzina is quoted.
After
theoretical preparation, students must defend the project. At the end of the
entire program, graduates must find a job in SIBUR, therefore, students already
know at which industrial facilities they will practice and work. Also, during
training, the company pays them a scholarship.
"I entered
the targeted training organized by Tomskneftekhim, machinist / equipment
operator profession with further employment in the company. It will help me
acquire the knowledge and skills that are necessary in modern production. To
work on it, it is necessary not only good professional training, but also other
knowledge, for example, in the field of IT", – student of the TSU Faculty
of Chemistry Alexander Gordeev is quoted.
