TOMSK, Apr 3 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University (TSU) will resume classes on April 6 in accordance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education; classes will be held online, the press service of the university said on Friday.
It was previously reported that in order to prevent the spread of a new coronavirus infection in mid-April, all universities in Tomsk switched to distance learning.
It was also reported that the week of March 30 to April 5 was declared non-working in the Russian Federation, on April 2, the president extended the "vacation" until the end of April. According to Rossiyskaya Gazeta, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov recommended all universities to start distance learning of students on April 6. Higher education institutions are recommended to resume the educational process in a remote format.
"We strongly support the regime of self-isolation in the country, therefore, from Monday (April 6), all students of TSU go to double classes online: students, master's students and postgraduate students. At the maximum, teachers switch to the remote mode too, if necessary, they will be assisted by digital university volunteers", - is said in the university's statement.
It is noted that TSU is completely ready for distance learning. All 4,500 current courses have been transferred online, teachers use all available learning platforms, most of the work is recorded in Moodle. Vacation week allowed to solve all organizational issues related to the remote format of work.
“Tomsk State University, after a non-working week, resumes the educational process in a remote format. Tomsk region is lucky, we have a stable situation, there is no reason to worry. But this is not a reason to relax. Therefore, as the consortium of Tomsk universities decided, we will continue training, ensuring the maximum distance", - the rector of TSU Eduard Galazhinsky explained RIA Tomsk.
He also specified that all the university’s services are working in an intensive mode, especially for services that provide security and quarantine measures in dormitories.
Earlier it was also reported that from March 31 to April 14 in the Tomsk region there is a regime of complete self-isolation, implying a ban on leaving the house for no strong reason.
