TOMSK, Apr 9 – RIA Tomsk. More than a thousand young scientists and students participate in the international scientific forum on the problems of geology, which started at Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) online; among the participants there are representatives of Russia, Algeria, Vietnam, South Africa and other countries, the university’s press service said on Thursday.
It is specified that the current International Scientific Symposium of Students and Young Scientists named after academician Mikhail Usov is the 24th in a row, its theme is - "Problems of Geology and Subsoil Development".
"This year it is being held online. 1 171 participants, including 507 non-local and 58 foreign, have been announced at the largest geological scientific conference in Russia", - is said in the statement.
According to the press service, the symposium is attended by young scientists from universities, scientific organizations and manufacturing enterprises of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar, Yekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Don, Chita, Yakutsk, Krasnoyarsk and many other cities of Russia.
Also among the participants there are scientists from Algeria, Vietnam, Ghana, Mali, Senegal, Zimbabwe, Mongolia, South Africa, Zambia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and the DPR.
As it's noted in the message, the symposium is held online simultaneously in 18 areas of geology. The symposium program is available via link.
"The topic of the reports covers the most important problems and achievements of paleontology, geochemistry, petroleum geology, the development of oil and gas fields, oil and gas field equipment, engineering and technology for field exploration, well drilling, mining, hydrogeoecology, and environmental protection", - the press service said.
It is also added that this year the work of the symposium is dedicated to the anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
“We are familiar with the events of the war years to varying degrees, but the hardships that our ancestors endured, their feat is invaluable. Chance to enter TPU
A contest for the best scientific report is held in each section and subsection of the forum. The competition commissions will recommend their authors for admission to the TPU master's degree programms and postgraduate studies.
Participants whose work will be marked with diplomas are equal to those who received 100 points for admission to the corresponding direction to the master's degree program of the TPU School of Earth Sciences & Engineering.
