© РИА Томск. Наталья Брусницына TOMSK, Apr 23 – RIA Tomsk.Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) entered the top 200 best universities in the world
in terms of cooperation with industry, innovation and infrastructure development
in the new ranking of Times Higher Education (THE), the university’s press
service said on Thursday.

It was previously reported that the
British edition of Times Higher Education (THE) in 2019 for the first time
compiled a ranking of world universities for the implementation of 17 goals of
sustainable development of mankind, identified by the United Nations (UN).
These are elimination of poverty and hunger, promotion of health and
well-being, quality education, decent work and economic growth and others. TPU
entered the group 201-300, and in some areas it took places in the top 100.
It is noted that in 2020, experts
evaluated the contribution of TPU to five goals of sustainable development:
"quality education", "industrialization, innovation and
infrastructure", "reducing inequality", "sustainable cities
and towns" and "partnership for sustainable development".
"Tomsk Polytechnic University was
included in the group of two hundred of the best universities in the world in
terms of cooperation with industry, innovation and infrastructure development
in the Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Rankings", – the
press service said.
In the overall ranking, TPU entered the
group of 401-600 together with St. Petersburg State University and 13 other
Russian universities. According to the website of the ranking, 47 Russian
universities were represented in it. The first in the overall ranking among
Russian universities was the Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic
University, TPU entered the top 30 domestic universities.
In 2020, 776 universities from 85
countries of the world were represented in THE ranking (in 2019, it was more
than 450 universities from 76 countries of the world). The leader in the
ranking in 2020 was the University of Auckland in New Zealand.
