Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TUSUR) profit the first Russian university to enter into a global international non-profit partnership (consortium) for the development of the industrial Internet of things (IIoT), the university’s press service said on Thursday.
It is noted that the technology of industrial Internet of things (IIoT) allow different types of equipment to interact with each other without human participation. This, in turn, leads to increased productivity by reducing costs and the risk of accidents.
“For TUSUR, joining the international consortium - is an important step, because for us the IoT topic - is one of the key in the general direction "New Generation Communication and Microelectronics”, which we are actively developing. Right now the principles of work, regulations are being developed, and the technological fundamentals of IIoT are being worked out. And we must participate in this", - the press service quotes the university rector Viktor Rulevskiy.

According to him, participation in the consortium confirms the world level of research and training in TUSUR and gives university scientists access to information on advanced research and development in the IIoT field.
Currently, a number of TUSUR divisions are developing a number of scientific areas related to the Internet of things. A regional competence center of the National Technological Initiative (NTI) opened jointly with Skoltech operates in the university in the direction of “Wireless Communications and the Internet of Things Technologies” the participants of which are developing a unified data transfer protocol for the Internet of Things and 5G communication systems.
In addition, TUSUR - is the only in Tomsk participant of the joint project "Samsung IoT Academy", which is aimed at training highly qualified specialists in the field of industrial Internet of things and wireless communications, the university report stressed.
