TOMSK, May 29 –
RIA Tomsk. Confucius Institute at Tomsk State University (CI TSU) together with the Ministry of Education of the
People's Republic of China holds an international Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK)
on Friday, May 29; for the first time it will be held online, reports the press
service of the university.
It is specified
that the HSK certification exam – is the Chinese equivalent of TOEFL, IELTS or
RFL. The HSK certificate confirms the level of knowledge of the Chinese
language upon admission to universities or other educational institutions of
China, and also opens up additional employment opportunities for international
companies working with China.
"In order
to receive scholarships from the Chinese government and to continue their
studies at Chinese universities, candidates are required to provide an HSK
certificate. Confucius institutes have the right to conduct examination
sessions. The exam has been held at TSU since 2012, but for the first time it
is held online", – the press service quotes the director of CI TSU Artyom
Danko.

This year, 50
people from Tomsk, Krasnoyarsk and the Kemerovo region will become participants
in the exam. Mostly these are students and schoolchildren, however, the number
of graduates and young specialists who seek to obtain an international
certificate in the Chinese language to increase their competitiveness in the
labor market has increased, is noted in the report.
"Testing
will take place on the international electronic platform www.chinesetest.cn... Testing involves six levels of difficulty. For those who apply
for the highest category, the exam can last up to two hours", – the report
said.
Testing results
will be checked by the State Office of Chinese Language Council International
(Hanban, PRC). Within a few weeks, participants will receive results in
electronic and paper form.
Earlier it was
reported that the Confucius Institute at Tomsk State University (CI TSU) is one
of the main educational sites for the study of the Chinese language in Siberia
for both students and teachers. Based on the results of activities CI TSU was
the only one of all such centers in Russia that in 2016 entered the twenty
leaders of the global global network of Confucius institutions. This network
includes 500 centers based on universities and more than a thousand educational
classes.
