TOMSK, Sep 6 – RIA Tomsk.Tomsk State University (TSU) will hold a qualifying open championship on
WorldSkills standards in September; students of all local universities will be
able to take part in it, the representative of the organizing committee
Alexander Petelin told RIA Tomsk.
WorldSkills – is an international non-profit movement aimed at enhancing
the prestige of working professions and developing vocational education, which
unites more than 70 countries. Regional, district and national championships
are held within the framework of the project. The Tomsk region joined this
movement in 2015.
According to Petelin, only two universities in the Tomsk region can hold
WorldSkills championships and are associated partners of the Russian Union
"Young Professionals" (WorldSkills / WorldSkills Russia) – TSU and
Seversk branch of Moscow Engineering Physics Institute (MEPhI).
"Unlike last year, in addition to the participation of our university
contingent, representatives of various universities of the Tomsk region are
invited. That is, the level of the championship is growing from university to
regional. Participants – are students of specialist, bachelor's, master's,
postgraduate studies up to 35 years old, who study full-time", – Petelin
said.
According to him, open championship on WorldSkills standards will be held
at TSU from 24 to 30 September. As specified on the university's website,
participation in it will help talented students prepare for the interuniversity
championship, and will provide an opportunity to get into the WorldSkills
national team.
According to the organizers, this year the program of the university
championship includes 11 competencies, including the development of mobile
applications, quantum technologies, organization of excursion services,
production of prototypes and others. Some of the competitions will be held in a
remote format, some will be offline in compliance with measures to prevent the
spread of COVID-19.
