TOMSK, Nov 13 – RIA Tomsk. Natalya Sedelnikova, a master's student of the Biological Institute of Tomsk State University (BI TSU), won the background competition named after V.I. Vernadsky and received a scholarship to create a course in landscape architecture for high school students; it will teach students how to improve urban space, the university's website reported.
It is specified that Sedelnikova is a student of the Department of Forestry and Landscape Construction. In 2016, she initiated the project "From Idea to Action" - meetings of schoolchildren with representatives of professions of interest to them. The idea to develop a course in landscape design was born after the girl entered the master's degree program of BI TSU.
"The master's student won the prestigious scholarship competition of the Non-Governmental Ecological Fund named after V.I. Vernadsky. Her project - is a course on landscape design - will tell how to improve the urban space, including the school grounds. The course will help to unleash the creative potential of high school students and show that they are they themselves can change the world around them for the better", - says the message.

It is added that in her course the master's student will talk about the role of landscaping - that green spaces reduce the noise level in the city, regulate the air temperature, and reduce the amount of dust and harmful gases.
"I believe that landscaping is not only shrubs or flower beds, it is important to pay attention to even the smallest details. For example, four 'squares' of a lawn produce as much oxygen as one tree. Therefore, the course has a separate block with a variety of landscaping materials", - the press service quotes Sidelnikova.
The course is adapted to the online format: videos for each of the blocks have already been recorded, collections of additional information have been prepared (articles, videos, checklists).
