TOMSK, Nov 19 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University (TSU) is testing a new online platform for teaching foreign students the Russian language; artificial intelligence (AI) acts as an assistant teacher - checks the performance of tasks by students, is reported on the university's website on Thursday.
It is specified that on December 2, an international conference on new educational technologies #EdCrunch Tomsk starts at TSU, where the latest teaching tools using AI will be presented. One of them is an online platform for teaching Russian as a foreign language (RFL).
"The platform will be tied to the TSU website, it will be possible to go to it from the site. The AI built into the platform will act as an assistant to the teacher, facilitate his work in terms of checking assignments and assessing knowledge, transferring data to students about the level of educational progress, building a trajectory of free independent work, warning and motivation systems", - says the message.

It is emphasized that thanks to the platform, the traditional lesson is not just transferred to online - learning based on vivid visualization and audio will allow to firmly learn information and more successfully form communicative competence.
Currently, the specialists of the Faculty of Philology of TSU for teaching RFL are working on the creation of an A2 level course, in which there is an active increase in speech skills, a set of vocabulary, and the formation of listening skills. TSU students will start learning Russian using the program in February 2021. Now teachers and their students are testing separate blocks of the course.
As the developers note, the popularity of the Russian language in the world is growing dynamically. "Residents of Asian countries willingly learn Russian in order to be able to study in Russia, master areas related to government, economy, IT technologies. Therefore, the platform will be in demand not only at TSU, but also at other universities in Russia", - says the website.
