TOMSK, Dec 2 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State University
(TSU) opened the Fifth International Forum of University Cities on
Wednesday; for three days experts from Russia, England, Germany, France,
Spain, India, the United States and other countries will discuss the
digital transformation of education, is reported on the university's
website.
Earlier it was reported that the first
International Forum of University Cities took place in 2016. The forum
in 2020 is the fifth in a row, it is dedicated to the challenges that
digital transformation poses for modern education and science. The
organizers, in addition to TSU, are the regional administration, the
French Embassy in Russia and the Consulate General of Germany in
Novosibirsk.
"Digital transformation has posed new
questions for us, to which no one has answers yet. And I am sure that
universities, by virtue of their mission, should become the platforms
where the search for solutions to these problems will go, where new
hypotheses will be tested and a new worldview will be formed in relation
to higher education", – TSU Rector Eduard Galazhinsky is quoted in the
message.
The forum will be held on December 2-4 in an
online format. Researchers and practitioners from Russia, England,
Germany, France, Spain, India, the USA and other countries take part in
it.
"More than 300 participants registered to participate
in the forum, including those from University of the Arctic, University
of Oviedo (Spain), Monash University (Australia), Paris National
Conservatory of Arts and Crafts (France) and other Russian and foreign
universities", – the press service said.
Participants will
discuss new opportunities and problems of higher education in the
context of digitalization and social challenges, digital inequality, the
need for sustainable development of a multicultural world. Separate
events will be devoted to the problems of science in the era of global
challenges, research ethics and breakthrough personalized technologies,
adds the message.
