TOMSK, Jan 28 – RIA Tomsk. Postgraduates of the Division for Power and Electrical Engineering of the TPU School of Energy & Power Engineering from Egypt Abuelsaud Raif Siam Sayed Ahmed and Ibrahim Ahmed Ibrahim Mohamed successfully defended their PhD theses and are now planning to join their forces to continue research in the field of autonomous power supply systems.

As young scientists told RIA Tomsk, the topics of their work are related to autonomous power supply systems, which are used in small settlements, spacecraft, aircraft and ships. Raif Siam Abuelsaud was looking for an algorithm to control such a system.

"My research advisor (professor of the School of Energy & Power Engineering Alexander Garganeev) and I first looked for a good way to manage an autonomous power supply system and found it. The method is called "predictive control". It was very cool, to be honest, and we were able to get good results, very good quality electricity", - the young scientist Raif Siam Abuelsaud said.

The thesis of Ibrahim Ahmed Ibrahim Mohamed, the second postgraduate student from Egypt, is devoted to autonomous power supply systems based on renewable energy sources: sun, wind, water.

“Together with the head (professor of the School of Energy & Power Engineering Sergey Obukhov), we solved two main problems. The first is increasing the efficiency of photovoltaic power plants through the use of a modern algorithm, we chose the most optimal parameters for them to ensure a reliable and effective search for the optimal power for different types of circuits... The second problem is to find the optimal solution for the consumer, with minimal costs", - Ahmed Ibrahim explained.

According to the postgraduate students, they, together with their supervisors, have united into a team in order to jointly engage in further research, since the topics of their work are interrelated. Now they have applied for a grant from the Russian Science Foundation and are waiting for the results of the competition: "We have a similar topic. We wanted to further study these problems in science, they are very interesting and modern... We will continue to work in a team, develop the topic, write articles", - they explained.

Earlier it was also reported that TPU has several training programs for foreigners, including master's and postgraduate programs. At the moment, 2 686 students from 60 countries of the world study at the university, 178 of them are postgraduate students.
