TOMSK, Feb 3 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) will start enrollment in a new English-language master's program "Operation and Engineering of Nuclear Power Plants" in the spring, it is aimed at students from Europe, Asia and Africa, which are actively building nuclear energy facilities, the university's press service said on Wednesday.

According to the press service, in the spring of 2021, a master's program "Operation and Engineering of Nuclear Power Plants" will open at the TPU

School of Energy & Power Engineering. It is designed for students from Europe, Asia and Africa, which are actively developing and building nuclear power facilities. The program will be available in English only and has ten extrabudgetary places.

"Now there is a demand for heat power engineers. In response to this request, we are opening a master's program for foreign students in power engineering, so that they can continue their studies in the direction of "Heat power engineering and heat engineering ", but taking into account the specifics of nuclear power plants", - the senior lecturer of the TPU Butakov Research Center Sergey Lavrinenko is quoted.

It is noted that students will study the design and operation of nuclear power plants and installations. An important feature will also be a large amount of research work on specialized topics. Thus, the practices will be held at the resource center of the National Research Nuclear University “MEPhI” in Volgodonsk and at the centers "Technologies of Thermal and Nuclear Power Plants" of the TPU Butakov Research Center and "Ecoenergy 4.0".

"Upon graduation, these will be heat and power specialists capable of performing high-tech design work, modeling and working with energy-technological complexes, including using digital technologies. This approach to training future heat power engineers will ensure the competitive development of the nuclear industry, which meets modern needs", - Lavrinenko explained.
