TOMSK, Feb 17 – RIA Tomsk. Specialists of the Tomsk University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics (TUSUR), together with Micran company, will develop and present their own model of a 5G communication base station created on a domestic element base by 2024, TUSUR Rector Victor Rulevsky told RIA Tomsk.

Earlier it was reported that in August 2020, MTS PJSC launched the first pilot communication network of the fifth generation beyond the Urals based on TUSUR and Miсran company, which, in cooperation with their partners, will become the developers of domestic 5G base stations.

"A lot of work has been done on the general algorithms for the location of small base stations on 5G systems. And now, on the basis of Micran, the first technological solutions are being developed to create our own small base station. By 2024, we will present such a station on the domestic component base. This will be a breakthrough step towards the next 6th generation communication systems", – Rulevsky said.

According to him, today in Russia only individual elements are produced that are necessary for the creation of 5G base stations (the lion's share of the world production of 5G components falls on Ericson). To create a Russian component base, TUSUR uses the possibilities of a joint project of the National Technological Initiative (NTI) with Skoltech on the Internet of Things and NTI with the Moscow Institute of Electronic Technology on Photonics and Sensorics.

"Individual components are already being produced in Russia. But there is no integral system for the production of all the necessary components yet. It is being built, but this will require a revision of the entire nomenclature of the elemental base. But we are moving at a good pace", – says Rulevsky.

In addition, the specialists of TUSUR and Micran worked out a number of aspects related to the approbation of 5G communication protocols, through which information is transmitted. Scientists managed to solve the problem of how to form a data packet for transmission at ultra-high speeds so that it reaches the recipient without loss, Rulevsky said.

Communication systems of the fifth generation 5G is a new system for transmitting mobile data at ultra-high speeds (1-2 thousand megabits per second, versus 100-200 megabits per second in 4G networks). The introduction of the technology will allow to instantly transmit large amounts of information, which will revolutionize video communication, the use of artificial intelligence technology, the Internet of things, augmented and virtual reality.
