Minprirody allocated 5 million to improve Vasyuganskiy Nature Reserve

TOMSK, Aug 4 – RIA Tomsk. The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation in 2021 allocated 5 million rubles to improve the reserve Vasyuganskiy, part of which is located in the Tomsk region, the money will be used to buy housing trailers and vehicles, and create a network of nature trails, director of the reserve Olga Antoshkina told RIA Tomsk.

The Vasyugan swamps are some of the largest in the world, most of them are located in the north of the Tomsk region. It was previously reported that at the end of 2017, a federal nature reserve was created within the Great Vasyugan Mire by a decision of the Russian government. The directorate of the reserve is located in Tomsk, its office opened in 2020.

"We have about 5 million rubles for the improvement of the reserve... The money is allocated by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation (Minprirody of Russia). They allocated for this year, we have to make the groundwork to use all these things in the future", – Antoshkina said.

She explained that this money will be used for the purchase of transport, which will be used for tourists and for the protection of the territory, will be created a network of paths, laid with ecological materials (made of wood), which will look natural on the territory of the reserve. At the same time, some of the paths will be built from scratch specifically for excursion routes, to show the transition of one ecosystem to another.

"We are also planning (by 2022) to get cabins, caravans there. It's more acceptable there now. And then we plan to build a cordon there – and more than one. They will be used by scientists, guards, students, and tourists. Cordon is such a wooden "forester's house", – the agency's interlocutor said.

Earlier it was reported that the administration of the Tomsk reserve Vasyuganskiy, located on the namesake swamps, plans to start scientific, educational, photo and even "mystical" tours from autumn 2022. Such a trip to the bogs will take at least three days. By the beginning of excursions the administration plans to put in order the infrastructure: to equip parking lots, places for overnight stay and ecological trails.
