TOMSK, Nov 9 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) approved admission rules for applicants in
2022; the university will start accepting documents from entrants from
February, the admission process will take into account scores for
university events for school students, and master's students will be
enrolled in two waves, the university's press service said.
Earlier
it was reported that the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of
the Russian Federation is changing the procedure for admission to
universities from 2021. Some of the new rules will be introduced
centrally for all higher education institutions, while others will be
chosen by the universities themselves.
According to the
TPU website, in 2022 the university will have 3,519 state-funded places
(in 2021 – 3,671, including Yurga Institute of Technology, TPU affiliate – Ed.), of which 1,824 will go to bachelors and specialists (full-time)
and 1,314 to graduate students.
Admission of documents
"Tomsk
Polytechnic University has adopted admission rules for applicants for
the year 2022. They can be found on the TPU Applicant website.
<...> Tomsk Polytechnic University will begin accepting documents
from applicants from February 1, 2022. This applies to all applicants –
full-time and part-time – for Bachelor's, Specialist's, and Master's
degrees. Only the deadline for applying for postgraduate studies has not
yet been determined", – the statement said.
According to the press service, the university has never started accepting documents before June 20.
"We
did this with the main purpose to make the applicants feel calmer, so
that they have more time to make a decision. I would like to point out
here that receiving documents does not mean that admission will be
earlier. No. However, applicants will have more time to prepare
documents and choose the direction", – executive secretary of the TPU
Central Admissions Commission Alexander Denisevich said.

Like
last year, documents can be submitted through the TPU Applicant
website, by mail, through the Gosuslugi state services portal – it will
be available not only to applicants for full-time Bachelor's and
Specialist's degree, but also to graduate applicants, it will also make
no difference whether the applicant is applying for a paid or
state-funded place, full-time or part-time.
Applicants can also apply in person if the epidemiological situation in the region allows.
Admission
It
is planned to admit master's degree students in two waves. In the first
wave 80% of the state-funded places are supposed to be filled, the
applicants with the 85+ scores during the entrance exams will be
enrolled.
"Enrolment of the first wave will take place as
early as July 30. In the second wave, the remaining state-funded places
will be filled and the admission will take place on August 16", –
Denisevich is quoted.
Admission to the Bachelor's and
Specialist's Degree programs will be held traditionally: in zero wave
(for scholarship holders and graduates of competitions) and in the main
wave.
This year, however, universities will no longer
publish orders with the names of the applicants; the websites will also
have enrolment lists consisting of Individual insurance account numbers
(SNILS) and unique codes.
Minimum points
Minimum
scores for full-time Bachelor's and Specialist's degree programs in
2021 will remain the same: 56 in Russian language, 45 in maths and
physics, 48 in chemistry, and 53 in IT.

students, as well as for applicants of including Yurga Institute of

In 2022,
universities have returned the right to credit up to 10 extra points for
participating in events for students, the press service notes.
"The
main condition is that the activities for which the university will
give extra points must be free for school students. TPU will publish
detailed regulations in December on what we can get up to 10 points for.
There will, of course, be events at the international, all-Russian
level, as well as our traditional Tomsk events for high school students –
scientific-practical conferences, case championships, and so on", –
explains Denisevich.
Graduates of colleges – according to the results of the USE
Graduates
of secondary schools were previously admitted to the university based
on the results of entrance exams held by the university, the press
service said. From 2022, graduates of secondary specialized educational
institutions will be admitted based on the results of the Unified State
Exam (USE) or profile entrance examinations.
"This means
that universities will have to offer secondary specialized educational
institutions graduates entrance exams not in general subjects, but in
specialized ones, depending on the focus of the technical school itself
and its curriculum", – Denisevich explained.
