will create a team to participate in the first international innovative
sports tournament Games of the Future to be held in 2023; they hope that
part of the competition will take place in the Tomsk region, Dmitry
Shulgin, Head of the Tomsk Regional Branch of the ESports Federation,
told RIA Tomsk on Friday.
According to the Russian
government website, the Games of the Future tournament is planned to be
held in 21 disciplines, which are grouped into five universes: Sports
Challenge, Battle Challenge, AR/VR Challenge, E-motions Challenge and
Technically Assisted Challenge. There are also plans for teams to take
part in offline competition (such as a quest or race) in addition to the
eSports competition.
"When the system for selecting teams
for the Games of the Future is published, we will understand how a team
will be formed from the best athletes of the Tomsk region. We have a
strong team, there are also players from other regions ready to play for
Tomsk. We also hope that part of the Future Games competitions will be
held in the Tomsk region, which will help strengthen the region's
position in eSports developing," Shulgin said.
Shulgin
added that Tomsk has strong student teams and that in mid-December,
during the All-Russian geek convention CON.Version, willing eSports
athletes will be able to meet the standards for grading.
Earlier
it was reported that Tomsk State University (TSU) initiated the
creation of the National Association of University ESports, the
participation in it has been confirmed by 22 Russian universities. In
December, TSU and its partners, including the Tomsk Regional Branch of
the ESports Federation, plan to hold an eSports tournament with a prize
fund of 1.5 million rubles.
