Terra incognita, telling about history of Siberia since the most ancient times up to now in the context of the world history, the author of the project Andrey Sokolov reported RIA Tomsk.

According to him, the videocourse is developed for the Trans-Siberian Scientific Way center, which accumulates works of scientists on research of Siberia. The center will work in seven directions: earth and ecology, history, archeology and ethnography, economy, human and health, language and culture, materials and technologies, urbanistics and creative industries of Siberia. It is planned to realize interdisciplinary projects with involvement of the leading scientists from around the world, including Nobel laureates.

"From Soviet period historical events in Western Siberia is studied in a separation from global events. Many scientists look at Siberia as on "backwoods". Our task is to show that during all historical eras Siberia was full of life, there were events, which are important part of the world historical process", – Sokolov told.

He explained that the task of the course Sibirica. Terra incognita is to show, what was happening in Siberia during historical eras: when in Britain Stonehenge was built, in Egypt tombs of Valley of the Kings, and in Crete the well-known labyrinth? Which battles rattled on coast of Ob and Yenisei during the Trojan War? How did the American continent live at the time of Tomsk foundation? These questions are answered by historians, archeologists, anthropologists of TSU.

According to the author of the project, at the first stage the videocourse will consist of 10 survey lectures – from a paleolith till the XX century. Subsequently it is supposed to be expanded. "Besides survey lectures on historical eras, we want to tell about the unique phenomena of the Siberian world: for example, how medieval Turkic peoples melted marsh iron, what engineering technologies were used at construction of the Tomsk jail, to tell about features of the Siberian iconography", – Sokolov told.

The first lectures of the videocourse Sibirica. Terra incognita will appear on the Trans-Siberian Scientific Way TSU portal on February 1.
