TOMSK, Jan 12 – RIA Tomsk. The Center for European Photography of Tomsk State University (TSU) will hold in January the all-Russian exhibition of works of the best young photographers – the leaders of the PHD photography and design competition, the director of the center Irina Korneva reported RIA Tomsk.
The PHD photography and design festival, organized by the TSU Higher School of Journalism, was held in Tomsk at the end of 2018. About 1.5 thousand young photographers from all over Russia submitted applications for participation in the competition program. The grand prize of the competition was received by a 29-year-old photographer from Moscow, Stanislava Novgorodtseva. Her photo stories and reportages were published in such editions as "Russian Reporter", "TakieDela", The Village, and others.
"The exhibition will open on January 25 in the public space "Endorphin" (Lenin Avenue, 95). These will be the works of participants and winners of the PHD contest - young photographers under 30 years old. The exhibition shows the real life, and not something that is posted out in Instagram, where everyone shows their best side, often imagined", – Korneva said.
According to her, at the photo exhibition Tomsk citizens will see some works of the PHD contestants, as well as a full series of photos of the Grand Prix winner and the contest leaders. In particular, a series of Novgorodtseva photos called "Lord of the Seas" and is dedicated to downshifting.
The Center for European Photography opened at TSU at the end of 2018. One of its tasks – is to hold in Tomsk exhibitions of modern photography from different European countries and attract interested young audiences, future professionals of the media industry. In addition, the center holds various educational events in the field of new media, visual communication, documentary films and photography.
