TOMSK, Dec 23 – RIA Tomsk. More than 350 scientists and companies of Russia participate in the first scientific and practical conference "Hydrogen. Technologies. Future", which opened at TPU; as Tomsk Governor Sergey Zhvachkin emphasized, to take a noticeable place in the future hydrogen energy market, the regions should join forces, the correspondent reports from the scene.
Earlier it was reported that an online conference "Hydrogen. Technologies. Future" was opened at Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) on Thursday. Participants – are representatives of universities, institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Ministry of Industry and Trade, heads of the Sakhalin, Samara, Novosibirsk, Tomsk regions and St. Petersburg, companies relying on hydrogen energy – Gazprom, Gapromneft, SIBUR, Russian Railways, Severstal, Rosatom.
"We consider hydrogen energy technologies to be a new specialization of the economy. According to experts, new hydrogen energy markets will be formed in the next ten years. I am convinced that through our projects in partnership with major Russian business players, we must become participants in this global market. To do this, it is necessary to combine the competitive advantages of the regions", – Zhvachkin said.
As the correspondent reports, at the conference within two days more than 350 scientists and representatives of industrial companies will discuss technologies for hydrogen energy and the prospects for its development in the country. Four sections are devoted to technologies for obtaining, transporting, storing and using hydrogen, as well as issues of safety of hydrogen technologies.
"The development of hydrogen technologies is becoming a new big story for the Russian Federation. It is fundamentally important for us in the near future to determine the national rates for the export of raw materials, the potential of the domestic market for hydrogen, a set of technological solutions", – Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation on Digital and Technological Development Dmitry Peskov said at the opening of the conference.Hydrogen energy is one of the leading directions in the development of environmentally friendly methods of generating energy. The UN Framework Convention, signed by Russia in 2015, envisages a multiple reduction of carbon emissions from electricity generation in the next decade. Hydrogen, on the other hand, is a low-carbon fuel and is also the most abundant element in nature, the reserves of which are inexhaustible.
