TOMSK, July 31 – RIA Tomsk. The Siberian Chemical Plant (SCP) of Rosatom plans to produce a pilot batch of a qualitative beryllium on the first domestic technology developed by Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) in 2015, the head of plant Sergey Tochilin told to journalists.

Scientists from TPU together with SCP develop domestic technology for receiving a beryllium. Experts managed to receive the first laboratory batch of this metal at the end of 2014. Now beryllium is manufactured only in three countries: Kazakhstan, China and the USA which work with vitriolic technology.

"We work with a fluoride technology. We got the order from TPU; some grams of not really qualitative product were acquired last year. We plan to acquire about a kilogram of already qualitative product this year", – Tochilin told.

According to him, scientists from TPU and experts of SCP "have certain advantages in competences and knowledge, ability and experience to work with similar technologies". "Therefore we think that we have premises that such production would be created here", – he explained.

Beryllium is used in the atomic, space industry, mechanical engineering, in X-ray engineering, in production of laser and flameproof materials, in in production of missile fuel. Metal is used generally as a component to alloys that allows to increase their hardness and durability considerably.
