TOMSK, Sept
23 – RIA Tomsk. Siberian State Medical University (SSMU) expects to establish
relations with universities of the Netherlands after visit of its ambassador in
Tomsk; first of all, they are interested in students’ exchange, the rector of
the HEI Olga Kobyakova told to journalists on Wednesday.
The
plenipotentiary ambassador of the Netherlands in Russia Ron van Dartel works now
in Tomsk. He already met the management of two higher education institutions –
SSMU and Tomsk State University (TSU).
"We
don't have such experience (students exchange with the Netherlands – the
Edition) at the moment, but we exchanged contacts, and I hope that after
today's meeting we are on the right track. We have such programs with other
countries, in particular, with Germany, India, Egypt and other countries, but
it isn't as wide as we would like. I hope that soon we will make up for
it", – Kobyakova told.

According
to her, there is an experience of exchange programs with countries of Western
Europe in SSMU where the level of medicine is very high, and Tomsk higher
education institution also has something to share with pupils from these
states.
"For
example, two German students arrived to our university for half a year. We have
very interesting practices on an opisthorchiasis, the disease which is endemic
for our region. There is no such practices in Germany therefore they come here
to study this subject", – she explained.
The
ambassador told journalists that the Netherlands is interested in activation of
exchange programs, including with SSMU. "There are 800 Russian students In
the Netherlands now, we are very glad to this fact", – the diplomat
explained.
Now TSU
develops active cooperation with the Dutch higher education institutions which
was the first of the Russian higher education institutions who signed the
agreement on implementation of programs of double diplomas with University of
Maastricht earlier.
