TOMSK, Sep 6 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) could climb the 400th line in the QS World University Rankings (Quacquarelli Symonds) thanks to an involvement of the whole team into the work on competitive growth, the rector of TPU Petr Chubik considers.
Earlier it was reported that Tomsk State University (TSU) and the Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) have significantly improved their positions in the QS rating and for the first time entered top 400 best universities of the world. TPU took the 400th position.
"I consider, success become possible only thanks to an involvement of all TPU group into work on implementation of our program on competitive growth. Almost all polytechnicians promoted in the individual ratings (their indicators are designated in effective contracts), began to work much more productively", – the press service quoted Chubik in the message.
He noted that this event is very important for TPU. "We have for the first time escaped from group and have taken the isolated position – the 400th place. It is as in cycling – there is a peloton where indicators identical to all group of racers, and there are leaders at whom the separate time is fixed. We "left" a peloton", – the rector added.
According to the QS, the first 400 higher education institutions hold individual places of rating, from 401 to 500 places are grouped by 10 higher education institutions, after 501 places - by 50 higher education institutions. Assessment of the best universities of the world in the QS rating is made on the basis of six criteria: academic reputation, reputation among employers, teachers ratio to number of students, quoting index, share of foreign students, and also foreign teachers.
