TOMSK, Mar 8 – RIA Tomsk.Tomsk State University (Tomsk State
University) and Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) entered the subject rating
of the universities of the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) agency as one of the best
in the world on teaching of natural and human sciences, engineering sciences
and technologies, is reported on the website of the rating agency on Wednesday.
TSU and TPU in 2013 were included into the 5-100 project to which participants
additional financing for increase in the international competitiveness is
allocated. In 2017 to the Tomsk universities were allocated 482 million rubles.
Last year in the subject rating of QS TSU and TPU were among the best higher
education institutions of the world on training in languages and physics.
"This year subjects of rating include ranging on five various subject
domains: "Humanities and art", "Engineering sciences and
technologies", "Biological sciences and medicine", "Natural
sciences", "Social sciences and management". Besides addition of
new subjects, the rating included more universities, than ever before", –
is said in the message of QS.
According to the information posted on th0840e QS website, TPU for the first time
entered the ranking on subject domain "Engineering sciences and
technologies", taking 390 place. Tomsk Polytechnic University showed high
positions in several subjects: in the direction of "Chemical
Engineering" it entered the group 201-250 (the second place among Russian
universities), in the directions "Engineering - electrotechnical and
electronic" and "Engineering - mechanical, aviation and
industrial" is located in the group 251-300 (the fifth place in Russia).
In the "Physics and Astronomy" direction TPU passed from group
301-400 where it was in 2016, to group 251-300. Also TPU for the first time
entered the group of the ranged higher education institutions on the
"Chemistry' direction in group 451-500.
TSU in 2017 took the 328th place in the "Humanities and Art" area, in
"Natural Sciences" area entered the group 401-450. Also the
university kept leadership positions in subject "Modern languages"
(251-300), and in subject domain "Chemistry" for the first time
entered in top-500. The university has risen by 50 points in comparison with
the previous year and entered the group of 201-250 best universities of the
world on the subject "Physics and Astronomy".
In total in rating 28 Russian higher education institutions are presented, in
2016 there were only 17. As well as last year, the leader among higher
education institutions of Russia – is the Moscow State University.
