TOMSK, Apr 6 – RIA Tomsk. Tomsk State and Tomsk Polytechnic Universities (TSU and TPU) improved their positions in the
international Round University Ranking (RUR) for 2017; besides, Tomsk State
University of Control Systems and Radioelectronics for the first time entered
the RUR ranking, is reported on the rating website.
The RUR rating – is the only Russian rating of universities of the world, is
published since 2010. It considers quality of teaching and researches, level of
internationalization and financial stability of higher education institutions.
The rating included 763 higher education institutions from 74 countries
(including 67 universities of the Russian Federation).

According to the rating, this year TSU took the 256th place (in 2016 – the
327th line), TPU – the 420th place (the previous year – the 473rd line), TUSUR
– the 729th place (in previous years it was not in the rating).
The first place of rating was taken by Harvard University, on the second place
– is California Institute of Technology, on the third – University of Chicago.
Among the Russian higher education institutions the best results have shown
Moscow State University (the 145th place in the world), National Research
Nuclear University MEPhI (231st place in the world) and TSU. Tomsk Polytechnic
University is in the seventh place among higher education institutions of the
Russian Federation.
TSU and TPU in 2013 were included into the "5-100" project to which
participants additional financing for increase in the international
competitiveness is allocated. In 2017 and 2016 Tomsk universities entered the
second group, them were allocated 482 and 500 million rubles, respectively. In
2015 they were among the universities which received maximum financing – on 964
million rubles each.
