TOMSK, Jul 4 – RIA Tomsk. Graduate student of Tomsk State University (TSU) Olga Zolotukhina defended scientific work on research of atmospheric conditions limiting starts of space rockets at spaceports Baikonur and Vostochny; data, obtained by the climatologist, will be used by Roskosmos at choice of favorable periods for start, press services of university reports.
Earlier it was reported that the graduate student of the department of climatology and meteorology of the geological and geographical faculty of TSU Zolotukhina is the only scientist-meteorologist in Russia researching the atmospheric conditions limiting start of launch vehicle at the Russian spaceports. Transfer of starts of a launch vehicle because of weather conditions involves big financial losses for Roskosmos.
It is noted in the message that Zolotukhina used the data collected in operating time by the weather forecaster of the Center for Operation of Ground-Based Space Infrastructure Facilities "Space center Youzhny" (Baikonur) in the thesis.
"Degree of reliability of the calculations provided in the work is confirmed by the large volume and quality of the analyzed data … Identification of tendencies in change of speed of wind in layers of the top troposphere and the lower stratosphere, are of interest to the solution of problems of ensuring stability and controllability of the movement of a launch vehicle", – the head of department of TsNIIMash, the academician of RACTs Valery Dineev is quoted in the message.
With reference to the chief of geophysical department of Federal State Unitary Enterprise TsENCI Nikolay Shirshov it is added that the practical importance of the results received by Zolotukhina "consists in a possibility of their use for an assessment of risks of cancellation or transfer of start of launch vehicle at the spaceports Baikonur and Vostochny due to excess of admissible values of speed and wind shear".
"The received results will allow to improve quality of forecasting of dangerous convective phenomena and, respectively, to increase safety of operation of the missile and space equipment at the Vostochny spaceport", – the press service quotes a fragment from Shirshov's conclusion.
